Building an effective IoT system requires a lot more than just trying to find the lowest cost piece of hardware. Having a system that is able to scale, behaves well with other systems (interoperates) and helps you maintain a good level of security, now that’s the ticket.
The Imagination team has put together the MIPS based Creator Ci40 IoT-in-a-box kit specifically to address these challenges. Unlike many IoT development boards which are limited in connectivity and security options, the main Ci40 IoT hub has been design to allow developers to access numerous wireless protocols such as Wi-Fi, 802.15.4, Bluetooth (with expansion for more) all soldered down on one board. Not only that, the Creator Ci40 comes with security, something many others only talk about, by utilizing the Infineon Optiga TPM (Trusted Platform Module) to act as the root of trust; making it an ideal IoT hub.
Our webinar talks through how the kit can be used to link up the Microchip PIC32MX MIPS based MCUs on MikroElectronika’s 6LoWPAN Clicker board to the main Creator Ci40 IoT hub using Cascoda’s 802.15.4 radio running over a 6LoWPAN protocol. All of which is brought together using the free open-source LWM2M based Creator IoT framework, that is available on Github today.
We explain how to use these ‘standards based’ IoT protocols, to build an IoT irrigation system with MIPS based devices. Why and how protocols like LWM2M in combination with IPSO objects help us solve the scalability and interoperability issues that the IoT industry has to solve to get to critical mass.
The Creator Ci40 board itself gives developers access to a 550MHz dual core, multi-threaded MIPS interAptiv core running OpenWRT and the Ensigma 802.11 AC 2×2 Wi-Fi technology.
